About the role

Join us as a Temporary Works Coordinator and play a key part in delivering one of our high-profile projects in Derby. At Balfour Beatty, we’re proud of our achievements and committed to leading the markets we serve. Within our Major Projects division, you’ll be responsible for the coordination, management, and delivery of all temporary works, from feasibility studies and detailed design through to installation and safe removal, including the preparation of in-house designs where appropriate.

What you'll be doing

As a Temporary Works Coordinator, you will:



  • Manage the design, planning, implementation, and evaluation of all temporary works, ensuring certified designs are delivered safely and accurately on site.

  • Identify and coordinate temporary works requirements across areas such as scaffolding, excavation support, formwork, piling platforms, access roads, traffic management, catenary systems, steelwork, and temporary overhead line diversions.
    Develop design briefs, maintain schedules to track progress, and oversee designers, suppliers, and operatives to ensure competence and compliance.

  • Provide simple (Category 0/1) designs where required and support Temporary Works Supervisors with inspections, maintenance, and dismantling activities.

  • Ensure procedures and standards are applied in line with BBUS processes, while carrying out audits, competency assessments, and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders across the business.

Who we're looking for

To join us as a Temporary Works Coordinator, you’ll need:



  • Civil or Structural Engineering Qualification, minimum of a HNC/HND, preferably BEng.

  • Experience preferably with a temporary works/civils/utilities background, with a
    significant & wide range of temporary works construction experience, with a sound understanding of engineering principles.

  • Awareness of the requirements of BS5975:2008 procedural control requirements.

  • Excellent communications & team working skills.

  • Sound Health & Safety knowledge relating to site and design activities.
