Health in Construction Leadership Group
At Balfour Beatty, we care about the well-being of our people. We believe that when our teams are healthy, both physically and mentally, they are happier and more productive.
To support our workforce, we have partnered with two industry organisations: the Health in Construction Leadership Group (HCLG) and the Mates in Mind programme. These partnerships demonstrate our commitment to creating a workplace that prioritises the health and wellbeing of our employees.
You can find out more about these organisations, what they do and how Balfour Beatty is playing its part through the pages below.
As part of our wider commitment to health and well-being across the business, project teams are also benefitting from our well-being framework, developed through frontline insights and My Contribution ideas.
The framework helps teams identify local well-being risks, embed practical support and create project-specific action plans that strengthen psychological safety and everyday well-being on site.
Recent programmes have also introduced structured health and lifestyle “MOTs”, giving colleagues convenient access to short well-being check-ups, including physical health indicators and personalised guidance – helping reinforce healthy working practices and early intervention.
As we continue to upskill our people, we have also created a centre of excellence team which includes occupational health and occupational hygiene expertise.
Through these initiatives, we actively promote a culture that values mental and physical wellbeing. Our goal is to provide a supportive environment where everyone can thrive and succeed.
