Award success for Balfour Beatty Engineering Services

17 April 2015

UK

Balfour Beatty Engineering Services received a hat-trick of awards at the 21st annual H&V Awards last night.

The highly-competitive awards, which celebrate the achievements of the heating and ventilation industry, saw the ‘Graphene Project’ in Manchester win Building Services Project of the Year. The project to design and install the M&E services for the National Graphene Institute at the University of Manchester was also shortlisted for the ‘BIM Initiative of the Year Award’.

Judges said the scheme won because it was an impressive project with many complexities, including the tight footprint of the build and the many M&E process services installed.

As well as Graphene, there was also success for Engineering Services' unique Authorised Persons training scheme in the Safety Initiative of the Year category, which has helped ensure there is a 93% reduction in the number of electricity-related HIPOs on our sites in just one year.

Judges added: “Going above and beyond industry practice – a clear dedication to raising awareness of an important safety issue with tangible benefits.”

Meanwhile, Balfour Beatty Engineering Services apprentice Jack Kleyn received a ‘Highly Commended’ award in the Apprentice of the Year category.

Mark Hoyland, Managing Director at Balfour Beatty Engineering Services, said: “This is a fantastic achievement which truly reflects the hard work, talent and expertise that we have within our business. I am also delighted with the recognition given by the industry which provides us with a great platform to enhance both our customer relationships and secure high quality projects throughout the UK.”
