What you'll be doing
- Day to day point of contact for carbon on the project
- Deliver carbon management and decarbonisation performance on the project;
- Report project carbon management performance and progression to the BB Major Projects Head of Environment & Sustainability as required (typically monthly);
- Support with the development and/or delivery of Project/Business carbon dashboards
- Coordinate carbon forecast updates at key change points for the project;
- Be the focal point/interface with the client Sustainability team from a Carbon perspective
- Collaborate with the BB Group Sustainability Team, engaging on topics such as: innovations; policies; technical standards; guidance; best practice etc;
- Deliver project carbon training programmes;
- Support embedding carbon management within a range of project functions and processes where applicable, such as procurement, commercial, plant management & logistics;
- Support project client carbon reporting & deliverables, including Carbon Management; Reports, Carbon Management Plans and Carbon Baselines;
- Undertake technical assurance of carbon deliverables produced by partners and/or the supply chain
- Provide support and guidance to relevant project teams;
- Develop direct relationships with regional client contacts (Local Authority, client team etc)
Who we're looking for
The following qualities/ experience are essential:
- A science-based background i.e. relevant BSc or equivalent qualification in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Carbon, Energy or similar;
- An understanding of carbon impact/mitigation issues on infrastructure;
- Understanding of carbon reporting standards, guidance and regulatory regimes e.g. PAS 2080;
- Understanding of issues in integrating low carbon into infrastructure design and construction;
- Experienced in Office applications and use of analytical tools;
- Understanding of the benefits of working collaboratively to obtain the best outcome for the project;
- Good interpersonal and communication skills;
- Determination to see tasks through to completion;
- Member of a relevant professional body is desirable
