What you'll be doing
As a Level 0 Street Lighting Operative, you’ll be part of a close-knit, supportive team working to keep one of the UK’s busiest road networks safe, efficient, and well-lit.
Your day-to-day work will be hands-on, meaningful, and varied — with every task contributing to the safety and comfort of millions of journeys. You’ll also have access to ongoing training and development opportunities, helping you grow your skills and shape your career.
Here’s how you’ll make a difference:
- Work collaboratively with your team on both routine and non-routine street lighting tasks across the network.
- Accurately capture and report work activity using mobile data devices and maintain clear written and verbal records.
- Attend training courses to continually develop your skills and stay up to date with industry standards.
- Live and promote the Connect Plus Services values in everything you do.
- Keep a strong focus on health, safety, and wellbeing – supporting our Zero Harm commitment.
- Contribute to our wider sustainability goals, helping build a better, more responsible future for all.
This is more than just a job — it’s a role where your efforts are recognised, your development is supported, and your work truly matters
Who we're looking for
We’re looking for motivated individuals who are safety-focused, team-oriented, and ready to grow their career in a hands-on, impactful role.
To be successful, you’ll need:
- A full UK driving licence
- A valid CSCS Operative Card
- Previous experience in electrical maintenance or installation (street lighting experience is a bonus!)
Why work for us
CPS is a Joint Venture project with Balfour Beatty, AtkinsRéalis, and Egis. We operate and maintain the M25. The M25 is the busiest section of motorway in Europe and requires careful and efficient planning of work in order to deliver over £100m of annual investment in the highway infrastructure each year, in addition to planned and reactive maintenance activity.
If you have or are looking for a career in Highways, working on the M25 will give you experience and challenge that no other Highways project can offer.
