About the role

Balfour Beatty is seeking a proactive and organised Storeperson to join our site-based team at the Benacre project. This vital role supports the safe and efficient running of our stores and yard, ensuring materials, tools, equipment, and PPE are received, recorded, stored, and issued in line with operational needs.


This is an excellent opportunity to be at the heart of a major project, where your day-to-day efforts will help drive operational efficiency, safety, and productivity.

What you'll be doing


  • Oversee receipt, issue, and storage of materials, plant, tools, and consumables.

  • Maintain accurate stock levels and generate regular reports, including early alerts on strategic items.

  • Manage the cataloguing, segregation, and safe disposal of materials.

  • Inspect and verify all deliveries and liaise with site teams for correct storage and documentation.

  • Ensure site security is maintained – including controlling access/egress, briefing delivery drivers, and managing sign-in/out.

  • Open and secure the gates at the beginning and end of each shift.

  • Unload/load deliveries, marshal vehicles, and assist with yard organisation.

  • Coordinate tool and equipment calibration (including lifting gear).

  • Promote health, safety, and environmental standards in line with company policy.

  • Represent Balfour Beatty professionally to visitors, subcontractors, and delivery personnel.

Who we're looking for


  • A full UK driving licence (essential).

  • Ability to work effectively in a team, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Good organisational and communication skills.

  • Proactive approach to safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.

  • A positive attitude and a commitment to collaborative working and continuous improvement.
