Work unsupervised running a small team of operatives undertaking specific tasks efficiently and safely as directed by the designated Foreman / Supervisor.


For over 90 years our business has been delivering innovative structural repair, strengthening, protection and maintenance solutions to sustainably extend the life of our nation's infrastructure.


Our clients include National Highways as well as some of the major local authorities across the UK. Whilst our key focus is Transport Infrastructure, we also provide professional services across power, energy, industrial, defence, coastal & marine sectors.

What you'll be doing

As a Chargehand, you will have the following responsibilities:



  • To ensure the works are carried out in the most efficient and safe manner

  • Demonstrate positive attitude and behaviour towards safety and others

  • Notify the Supervisor or Chargehand of any matters that affect the progress of works (including breakdowns & damages, etc.)

  • Ensure maintenance/inspection checks are carried out, reports are correctly completed on time and submitted

  • Be pro-active and think ahead by working closely with Chargehands & Supervisors

  • Actively & positively participate in Daily Activity Briefings and all relevant team briefings

  • Good understanding and knowledge of different processes and equipment

  • Be prepared to work overtime/flexible on breaks as required

Who we're looking for

You will have the following:



  • Good communication skills (to all levels including Supervisors)

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Proactively challenge and be challenged where appropriate

  • Knowledge of using and clear understanding of work package plans, method statements, procedures, risk assessments and site specific rules (including lift plans).


Desireable:



  • NVQ Level 2 Concrete Repair

  • 2 to 5 years minimum experience of Concrete Repair Work


And / or



  • 2 to 5 years minimum experience of crack injection and void filling works including:

    • Use of acrylic resins, polyurethane and cementitious materials

    • Vacuum injection

    • Pressure

    • Grouting



  • Multi-skilled (e.g. MEWP, Fire Marshal Traffic Marshall, Lift Supervisor, etc).
