Our work matters to millions. It’ll matter to you too. Join our Power Transmission and Distribution team as a Senior Project Manager - Advanced Procurement on the Operational Team based in the Central Belt of Scotland and you’ll be a big part of fascinating, complex, varied and meaningful work.


As a Senior Project Manager your role will be able to,



  • Lead, manage and co-ordinate all aspects of the advanced procurement processes and activities for ASTI substations, underground cabling, and overhead line projects on behalf of the project leads.

  • Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with supply chain,
    customers, partners, bid and project team.

  • Ensure that procurement strategies align with project goals, budget
    constraints, and timelines while maintaining compliance with regulatory, technical, and safety standards.

What you'll be doing



  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with overall ASTI
    programme.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or project
    timelines.

  • Identify, develop and evaluate potential suppliers and subcontractors. Continue
    to manage these relationships to understand terms and conditions, lead times,
    availability, performance, quality, compliance and on-time delivery to right first-
    time principles.

  • Lead the development of new contracts with commercial to ensure clarity in
    terms, conditions, technical standards and deliverables.

  • Liaise with stakeholders to inform them of changes to budgets.

  • Take a strategic view of subcontract package allocation and ensure contractual
    arrangements are in place

  • Ensure procurement plans are available in line with the overall project plans, such that material/resources/supply chain can be delivered to meet scheduled deadlines


Who we're looking for


  • Able to demonstrate a track record of project delivery as SPM in an operations
    role.

  • Strong understanding of substation, UGC and OHL project requirements.

  • Experience in front end preparation and planning to influence procurement and
    engineering.

  • Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts

  • Proficient in commercial/project management communications

  • Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the
    organisation

  • Effective team management skills which empower, influence & inspire others
    to build effective teams. Providing mentoring and support to members of the
    team where required

  • Commercially astute

  • Able to undertake work in high pressure situations

  • Good knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics
