Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for a Engineering Manager to join our Lower Thames Crossing project.

What you'll be doing

As an Engineering Manager, you will be tasked with to providing engineering and design management, strong leadership and control of a multi-disciplinary team comprising engineering resources at project level.



  • Appraises improvement options and leads / instigates actions as appropriate

  • Supports the Quality team to ensure compliance with the specifications is achieved

  • Contributes to weekly senior managers meetings to review strategic performance on site

  • Continually reviews the design to identify opportunities for improvements and efficiencies that l improve productivity and provide cost savings.

  • Sets and aligns targets and KPI’s in line with budget forecast

  • Manages the design change process to minimize cost impact and inform the commercial team of potential changes and the implications.

  • Provides technical support for the commercial team during the procurement process.

Who we're looking for

The following qualities/experience are essential:



  • Takes ownership of tasks and communicates outcomes with clarity, direction and purpose, including managing others in this regard.

  • Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights.

  • Degree or HND

  • Holds a current driving license/CSCS Card.

  • Able and willing to make decisions following consideration of options based on best available information.

  • Excellent role model for development of junior staff and demonstrates required behaviours to align to business, project and team objectives.

  • Provision of assistance and expert knowledge to reinforce the objectives of the work winning teams.
