Fort Bliss Military Housing, Texas

Balfour Beatty Communities $775 million expansion and maintenance project is helping the US Army achieve it's net zero vision through sustainable energy initiatives in military housing.

Balfour Beatty Communities is the developer of the Fort Bliss Homes and White Sands Missile Range military housing privatisation project - one of the largest installations in the US Army's portfolio. As part of our project scope, we're overseeing the design, construction and overall management, maintenance and operation of the housing units, including the full portfolio of more than 4,600 family homes, as well as all grounds, roads and infrastructure in the housing areas.

Leading the way towards net zero energy consumption

The US Department of Defense (DoD), being one of the world's biggest energy consumers, established it's net zero initiative to decrease it's carbon emissions. Fort Bliss served as a pilot for this effort with Balfour Beatty Communities playing a key role in enabling emission reductions by installing solar energy systems in 4,200 homes at the base.
