Strengthening action on modern slavery

Modern slavery remains a serious risk across global supply chains, including within the construction sector. Strengthening awareness and practical responses is essential to help identify and prevent labour exploitation.

On 26 November 2025, we partnered with Align Ltd to host a workshop focused on lived experience of modern slavery. The session brought together consultants with direct experience of exploitation in the construction sector, alongside colleagues from enabling functions, site teams and supply chain partners.

The full‑day workshop focused on helping teams recognise modern slavery and labour exploitation risks and respond more effectively on site. Insights from lived experience informed tangible improvements, including updated training on early risk indicators and enhanced audit checklists.

50%

of group audits to include lived‑experience assessors

A commitment was also made to involve lived‑experience assessors in at least 50% of group audits, strengthening the identification of risk indicators and improving existing processes.

Applying these insights is helping to strengthen the Group’s ability to identify, mitigate and respond to modern slavery risks across our operations.
