Driving inclusion through lived experience

As part of our commitment to Value Everyone, we are working with the Human Library to help our people build a greater understanding of different lived experiences across our workforce.

The Human Library is a global learning approach that creates space for open conversations with people who have experienced stigma or discrimination, encouraging participants to ask questions and challenge assumptions.

In March 2025, more than 200 senior managers took part in Human Library sessions at the Value Everyone Conference, engaging in small‑group discussions with Human Library volunteers.

Further online sessions were delivered by the Regional Scotland Diversity and Inclusion working group, with more than 40 colleagues participating. The initiative was also brought directly to site through a face‑to‑face session on the M25 Junction 10 project, attended by 48 people, with 60% of participants working in operative roles, including supply chain partners.

By creating opportunities for open dialogue and reflection, we are helping colleagues challenge assumptions, role‑model inclusive behaviours and strengthen a culture of respect across our business.
