Planning & Scheduling Manager - Bristol

Kilpatrick

Planning and Project Controls

Bristol
Permanent

About the role

Join us at the forefront of one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure programmes. As part of the MEH Alliance, Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick is helping deliver the Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC scope for the Sizewell C nuclear project — and we’re looking for a talented Planning & Scheduling Manager to play a key role in shaping its success.

This isn’t just another planning role — this is your opportunity to build the foundation of a project controls baseline from the ground up.

You’ll lead the development of a robust, high-quality project schedule that underpins every aspect of delivery — from forecasting and performance tracking through to stakeholder reporting and strategic decision-making. Working closely with the Head of Project Controls, you’ll set the standard for planning excellence across the MEH Alliance, influencing how the project is delivered from the earliest stages.

Bristol (Aztec West) | Hybrid Working (1–2 days per week)

What you'll be doing

  • Leading and inspiring a high-performing planning team, embedding best practice and a strong delivery culture

  • Developing and managing the master project schedule, ensuring it supports delivery from early development through to completion

  • Establishing a project controls baseline to drive accurate forecasting, progress tracking and reporting

  • Aligning schedule, cost, risk and resources to ensure a fully integrated project controls approach

  • Leading earned value management (EVM) and performance reporting frameworks

  • Managing risk and uncertainty mapping within the schedule to support proactive decision-making

  • Supporting digital innovation by shaping the project’s planning tools and systems landscape

  • Building strong relationships with internal teams and client stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment

Who we're looking for

  • Extensive experience as a Lead Planner on large, complex infrastructure projects

  • Strong background in project controls integration and scheduling from early-stage development

  • Expertise in tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project

  • In-depth understanding of Earned Value Analysis (EVA) and project performance metrics

  • Proven experience leading and developing teams within a fast-paced, complex environment

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels

  • A confident leader with a passion for driving high-quality delivery

  • Detail-focused, with the ability to build and manage complex schedules

  • A proactive problem solver who thrives in a dynamic project environment

  • Collaborative and inclusive, bringing people together to achieve shared goals

  • Ability to gain a security clearance
