What you'll be doing
- Play a full part in the initiating and developing of the strategy, policy, culture and standards established by the SBU & BU Leadership Team and ensure that these are effectively deployed within the Area Commercial Team.
- Lead the Area Commercial Team in maximising the commercial performance of the Area Business Stream through the implementation of the commercial strategy and targets developed by Business Unit Leadership Team.
- Work with the Area Director and others in the Area Leadership Team in delivering on
Annual and 3-Year business targets.
- Ensure that the strategy, policy, culture and standards established by the Business Unit Leadership Team are effectively deployed within the Area Commercial Team.
- Ensure that the Balfour Beatty Group Minimum Commercial Expectations are consistently applied across the Area Business Stream.
- Manage the service delivery to the agreed service levels and support the Area hubs in the following activities:
o Business Development and Work Winning
o Finance
o Procurement
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships across the Area Portfolio
Provide overall Commercial Leadership for portfolio and project teams.
- Working closely with the Area Director / Portfolio Directors in maximising profit on the contracts.
- Manage Senior Commercial Managers and Commercial Managers within a portfolio structure.
- Provide accurate and up to date management information
- Ensure contract financial transactions are completed on time in accordance with contract terms
Who we're looking for
- Experience in managing large commercial teams
- Proven track record of performing in a leadership capacity
- Able to effectively communicate at all levels in an organisation and with external stakeholders
- High degree of commercial awareness and a strategic approach to achieving sustainable performance
- Demonstrate personal behaviours and values that align with Balfour Beatty cultural framework
- Experience of different forms of contracts / commercial models
- Experience in 2-Stage tendering and ECI / Preconstruction stages
- Manage finances and budgets (strong track record)
- IT literate
