About the role

We’re looking for a Working Foreperson to join a soft estates maintenance team working across the M25.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be out on the network leading a small team while also getting stuck into the work yourself. You’ll be helping to keep the motorway safe, tidy, and fully operational — from grass cutting and vegetation clearance through to drainage and general maintenance work.

It’s a busy, fast-moving environment, and no two days are the same.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading and working alongside a small team of operatives

  • Grass cutting, hedge trimming, and vegetation clearance

  • Ditching, drainage, and general grounds maintenance

  • Weed spraying and arboriculture-related tasks

  • Signing off basic reports and using handheld devices for records

  • Carrying out vehicle and equipment checks

  • Spotting and reporting any safety issues on the network

  • Supporting winter maintenance and out-of-hours call-outs when needed

Shift patterns include:

  • Rotating shifts: 2 weeks days, 2 weeks nights

  • Day shifts: 07:00–16:00

  • Night shifts: 20:30–05:30

  • Travel across the M25 network will be required

Who we're looking for

You’ll need to have experience working on highways or similar outdoor maintenance environments, and be confident supervising others while still working on the tools.

Essential:

  • Category C (LGV Class 1) driving licence

  • Valid CPC and Digi card

  • SSSTS or SMSTS (or equivalent)

  • CSCS Supervisor card

  • NVQ Level 2 in Highways Maintenance (or similar)

  • ROLO Supervisor qualification

  • PA1 weed spraying certificate

  • Experience working on live roads or motorway networks

  • Comfortable using plant like strimmers, hedge cutters, ride-on mowers, chainsaws, etc.
