Sub Agent - Redcar

Redcar
Permanent

About the role

Net Zero Teesside (NZT) is at the heart of the UK's energy transition. This landmark scheme will create one of the UK's first large-scale carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) networks, directly supporting the country's legally binding net zero targets and securing long-term industrial investment in the Tees Valley.

Joining this project means contributing to something bigger than a contract – you'll be part of a programme that will help reshape the UK's energy landscape for decades to come.

We are looking for an experienced Sub Agent to take ownership of specific civil engineering packages on site – driving delivery, leading your team and ensuring works are completed safely, on programme and to the highest quality standards. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, complex site environment.

We will also consider strong Senior Engineers who are ready to take the step up into a Sub Agent position.

What you'll be doing

  • Taking ownership of defined civil engineering packages, managing programme, quality and budget.

  • Leading and developing engineers on site, coordinating subcontractor activity day-to-day.

  • Championing health and safety across your area of works – reviewing RAMS and driving a strong safety culture.

  • Monitoring and reporting on progress, flagging risks early and keeping works on programme.

  • Maintaining accurate site records and upholding quality standards throughout.

  • Supporting cost control, forecasting and reporting to the wider delivery team.

  • Building strong working relationships with the client, design team and key stakeholders.

Who we're looking for

  • A degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.

  • Proven experience in a Sub Agent or Senior Engineer role on major civil engineering projects.

  • A background in heavy civils, infrastructure, utilities or energy – ideally large-scale schemes.

  • Solid understanding of NEC contract mechanisms.

  • Valid SMSTS and appropriate CSCS card.

  • Strong communicator with excellent organisational skills and a proactive, collaborative approach.

Lodging applicants are very welcome – support can be discussed at interview.
