What you'll be doing
- champion the delivery of environmental and sustainability outcomes, engaging teams to embed actions supporting Building New Futures commitments and Bridging the Gap actions.
- Manage environmental risks and opportunities by developing and maintaining project-specific environmental and sustainability plans and risk assessments.
- Contribute to the strategic implementation of project sustainability plan, driving actions, monitoring progress and reporting to senior Environmental Sustainability Team and project Leadership Team.
- Support Environmental Advisors / Consultants and liaise with other group Sustainability teams to deliver best sustainability outcomes for the projects.
- Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and ISO14001 requirements, including directing and supporting project teams in the preparation of consents, licences, and permits.
- Provide technical advice on environmental compliance, pollution control, waste, and ecology, ensuring alignment with the Business Management System (BMS).
- Upskill project teams and contractors through toolbox talks, work package plans, and on-site learning.
- Conduct inspections, audits, and reviews; facilitate external audits; and report findings to project teams.
- Investigate environmental incidents and observations, implement corrective actions, and support continuous improvement.
- Validate and report environmental data via the Sustainability Portal and client systems, ensuring accuracy against KPIs.
Who we're looking for
- Practical application of ISO 14001, including risk and opportunity assessment and
environmental controls.
- Working knowledge of environmental legislation
- Knowledge of pollution, waste, ecology, GIS and compliance frameworks
- Knowledge of key environmental sustainability data types used for measuring performance.
- Conducting inspections and audits
- Advising on compliance and mitigation
- Degree in environmental / sustainability-related field
- Ideally registered Environmental Practitioner (REnvP)
