About the role

Join Connect Plus Services as a Soft Estate Level 2 and supervise the delivery of safe and efficient soft estates maintenance across the M25 DBFO Network. In this role, you will lead a team to carry out vegetation management, hazard clearance, network maintenance, and associated tasks, ensuring the motorway network remains safe, accessible, and compliant.


As a Level 2 operative, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing people, coordinating resources, and supporting operational planning to maintain high standards of safety and performance.

What you'll be doing

You will supervise routine soft estates maintenance activities, including grass cutting, heavy vegetation clearance, arboriculture works, ditch clearance, and weed spraying, as well as the maintenance and clearance of signs. You will manage a small team, overseeing performance, conduct, absence, and leave in line with company policies.


You will ensure all work is carried out safely, accurately record and report activities using mobile devices, perform routine vehicle checks, and maintain driving records in accordance with legislation and CPS procedures. You will take care of CPS property, including vehicles, tablets, and radios, and raise awareness of any issues that may affect the safe operation of the network.


Safety is a priority. You will actively support Zero Harm initiatives, participate in the Winter Service rota, attend training courses as required, and promote the Balfour Beatty values while contributing to CPS’s sustainability objectives.

Who we're looking for

We are seeking a qualified, safety-focused Soft Estate Level 2 with a valid UK Driving Licence (minimum Category C/LGV Class 1), Driver Qualification Card/CPC, a CSCS Supervisors Card, SSSTS/SMSTS or equivalent, and a Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Highways Maintenance (or equivalent). You must also hold registration on the Register of Land-based Operations (ROLO) at supervisor level, relevant elements of Sector Scheme 18, and PA1 certification for weed treatment.


You will have proven experience working on a live motorway or All-Purpose Trunk Road (APTR) network and be fully competent operating soft estates plant, including chainsaws, chippers, Robomowers, ride-on mowers, strimmers, and hedge cutters. You will bring strong supervisory skills, a proactive approach to safety, and the ability to manage a high-performing operational team effectively.
