About the role

Are you ready to work on a major UK infrastructure project that combines career development, long-term stability, and hands-on challenge? With 15 years remaining on this iconic programme, you can play a vital role maintaining one of the UK’s most important transport networks.

As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, based at Dartford, Kent, you’ll be at the heart of keeping the Dartford River Crossing and M25 Tunnels safe, operational, and resilient. You’ll work on varied, hands-on tasks ranging from fault finding and preventative maintenance to urgent repairs of critical electrical infrastructure.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain specialist skills, continuous professional development, and career progression while contributing to the safe operation of Europe’s busiest motorway. If you’re looking for a role with purpose, stability, and challenge, this is the perfect opportunity to make your mark in the highways sector.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems across the M25 tunnels and Dartford River Crossing. Your work will combine planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, and responsive repairs, ensuring every day brings new challenges and opportunities to develop your expertise.

You will maintain and repair critical electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, pumps, fans, VSDs, lighting, and control gear, as well as traffic safety systems such as sensors, barriers, and traffic signals. Using your problem-solving skills, you will diagnose faults, interpret technical drawings, and carry out repairs independently to minimise downtime and maximise operational efficiency. You will also perform civil, electrical, and mechanical maintenance tasks, supporting overall infrastructure resilience.

Safety is paramount. You will follow strict health and safety regulations at all times, maintain vehicles, plant, and equipment, and respond to emergency incidents, ensuring hazards are cleared and operations are restored quickly. You will work as part of a skilled, supportive team, contributing to a culture of excellence, safety, and collaboration. You will also focus on continuous improvement and professional development, helping to embed Zero Harm practices across the site.

Who we're looking for

We are seeking a skilled, proactive, and safety-conscious Electrical Maintenance Technician with proven experience in electrical fault finding, repair, and maintenance within commercial or industrial electrical systems. You must hold the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and be confident working both independently and collaboratively. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance are essential to succeed in this dynamic, hands-on environment.
