Concrete Logistics Planner – Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering | Ipswich / Suffolk - Ipswich

Ground Engineering

Administration Support

Ipswich
Permanent

About the role

Be part of a once-in-a-generation infrastructure project that will help power 6 million homes with clean, reliable energy for decades to come.

Sizewell C Nuclear Power Station is a landmark development on the Suffolk coast, delivering a 3.2GW nuclear power station that will play a critical role in the UK’s low-carbon future.

The project is delivered through the Civil Works Alliance — a unique partnership bringing together world-class expertise from major global infrastructure programmes. Within this, the Geotechnical Sub Alliance (GSA) is responsible for delivering complex ground engineering works, including piling, ground improvement and diaphragm walls, from January 2026 to mid-2028.

As a Concrete Logistics Planner, you’ll play a critical role in supporting the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of concrete and slurry operations across the site. Working within the GSA logistics function, you’ll support the Logistics Manager and collaborate closely with site teams, batching plants and Alliance partners to ensure concrete supply meets programme, quality and safety requirements.

This is a site-based role offering exposure to one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects, with opportunities to develop your expertise in large-scale logistics and production planning.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you’ll take ownership of coordinating concrete supply and delivery across the project, ensuring materials are available when and where they are needed to support continuous production.

You’ll compile and distribute concrete call-offs to batching plants and CWA controllers, confirming mix designs, quantities, timings and delivery schedules with site teams. Working closely with the Logistics Manager, you’ll route deliveries to appropriate locations, arrange storage and access, and manage booking requests to maintain smooth operations.

You’ll monitor delivery performance in real time, responding proactively to delays or changes by coordinating with site teams, batching plants and control teams. Through careful forward planning and stringent control of delivery rates, you’ll help maximise production and distribution efficiency.

You’ll attend logistics and planning meetings, maintain accurate records and documentation, and contribute to the development of improved workflows and digital tracking systems. You’ll also support traffic management and logistics planning, ensuring all activities comply with health, safety, environmental and company standards.

Throughout the role, you’ll promote a strong safety-first culture, maintain well-organised records for audits and inspections, and handle operational and personal data in line with GDPR and company procedures.

Who we're looking for

We’re looking for a proactive, organised and detail-focused individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced construction environment and takes pride in delivering high-quality, well-coordinated operations.

You’ll ideally have experience in logistics coordination or site support within construction or infrastructure projects, with particular experience in ready-mix concrete production and distribution. You’ll bring strong communication and organisational skills, and feel confident working with site teams, suppliers, batching plant operators and external partners.

You’ll be comfortable using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook, along with logistics and delivery tracking systems. A solid understanding of delivery scheduling, access planning and site logistics workflows will help you succeed in this role, while familiarity with lift planning software would be an advantage.

Most importantly, you’ll bring a collaborative mindset, a commitment to safety and quality, and a genuine desire to contribute to a nationally significant project that will leave a lasting legacy.
