About the role

Balfour Beatty Highways delivers major infrastructure schemes, including smart motorway upgrades, complex national projects, and regional investment programme works for National Highways.


As a Temporary Works Coordinator on the A57 Highways project, you will be responsible for managing the design, delivery, and implementation of temporary works, ensuring they are safe, compliant, and delivered on time. You will work closely with project teams, clients, and designers to oversee all aspects of temporary works from design brief through construction, ensuring the programme is realistic and effective.

What you'll be doing

You will coordinate with all parties involved in the design and construction of temporary works, liaising with clients to assess public impact and to confirm approval and certification requirements. You will maintain and review the Temporary Works Schedule with the Temporary Works Designer and Project Lead, ensuring designs are carried out to a high standard and obtained within programme deadlines. You will review design briefs for completeness, manage design changes, and assess the competence of temporary works in consultation with the Project Lead. You will ensure all temporary works activities are effectively integrated into the wider construction programme and are compliant with relevant standards and regulations.

Who we're looking for

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Temporary Works Coordinator with a degree or equivalent in civil or geotechnical engineering. You will be a Chartered Engineer or working towards CEng status with either the ICE or IStructE. You will have proven experience in the management of temporary works in civil engineering projects and expert knowledge of BS5975. You will have excellent communication and team working skills and detailed knowledge of CDM Regulations, including Principal Contractor and Designer responsibilities.


You will be professional, proactive, and confident in managing design and construction teams, ensuring temporary works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
