What you'll be doing
As a Winter Maintenance Seasonal Driver you will have the following accountabilities:
- Play a key role in our Winter Service Delivery by carrying out precautionary salting of highways ahead of frost and ice, and removing snow when required to keep roads safe and open for all users
- Operate gritter vehicles and associated plant on pre-determined winter maintenance routes across the network
- Complete all assigned gritting and snow-clearance runs to the required quality standards, ensuring work is done right first time
- Perform thorough daily vehicle checks before and after shifts, accurately recording and reporting any defects
- Be available for winter duties on a standby rota (minimum every other week), including nights, weekends and bank holidays as required
- Strictly adhere to EU/UK Drivers’ Hours and Working Time regulations, ensuring you always have sufficient hours available and never risk a breach
- Report all Close Calls, incidents, near-misses and examples of Good Practice through the correct channels
- Follow all depot-based fleet movement and operational procedures
- Use fuel, salt and other resources efficiently to help maintain service profitability
- Build positive working relationships with colleagues, supervisors and other teams to support smooth winter service delivery
- Comply fully with all statutory requirements, company policies and procedures, particularly those relating to health & safety and quality
Who we're looking for
The following Qualifications are Mandatory:
- Holds a full, clean Class C Licence
- Current Driver CPC qualification
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card

Desirable (full training provided if needed):
- Previous Winter Service experience with City & Guilds 6159 Units 513 (ploughing) and 580 (salting/spreading)
