For Level 3 and 4 Apprentices in England, courses will usually begin in September. Similar to Level 6 Apprentices.

For Modern Apprentices in Scotland, most courses will begin with the academic year in August. For Graduate Apprentices, courses will begin in September.

This can vary depending on the Apprenticeship provider, as some courses are outside the academic calendars in England and Scotland.

We are here to support your potential beyond your grades. We will work with you to discuss the alternative options, whether that's a different course or another pathway to success.

Our Graduate programmes typically last between two and five years, but this can vary depending on the specific programme and individual progress.

We designed our two-year Graduate Scheme to start your journey towards becoming an industry expert. Expect well-structured training, incredible projects, talented colleagues and lots of hands-on experience. Working across a range of projects, sectors and roles, you'll gain all kinds of specialist skills and achievements and you’ll likely be on your way to a professional qualification too.

  • Candidates must have a minimum 2:2 degree relevant to the job role, either obtained within the last 3 years or on track to achieve by 2026.
  • Eligibility to work and live in the UK.
  • Ideally, a full UK drivers’ licence at the time of joining.
  • Some roles may require additional security clearance due to the nature of our projects. If this is relevant to your role, we will include this on the advert and confirm what this means with you during the recruitment process.

The Early Careers programme at Balfour Beatty has been carefully developed to help you become the best professional you can be. We aim to bring out the best of your abilities while giving you a deep insight into the world of infrastructure, so you can be a catalyst for change.

You'll gain skills and explore our business and sectors, having real control over where you go and what you experience next. All of this will be done as part of a vibrant community of Apprentices, Year in Industry students and Graduates.

With hands-on training, mentorship from industry professionals and the chance to work on real projects that make a difference, you'll benefit from a structured development plan, opportunities for progression and the chance to be part of a company that values innovation, diversity and inclusion.
