Balfour Beatty’s HS2 ‘superhub’ supremo features in Construction Management and Rail Business Daily

Steve O Sullivan, recently appointed Project Director at Old Oak Common, has featured in Rail Business Daily and Construction Management discussing his new role, his colourful career journey and what he believes, makes a successful major project.

In the features, Steve reflects on his journey so far and the lessons he’s learnt along the way, having started at Balfour Beatty as an Electrical Engineering apprentice in 1980. He also shares his insights into how strategic foresight and a commitment to innovation is going to be key for ensuring success at Old Oak Common.

Sharing career advice foraspiring major project directors, Steve said: “Take opportunities, take risks, stretch yourself. Speak up and make your ideas count. Get a mentor, build a network. Don’t expect your career to be laid out in front of you – you need to own it and manage it.”
