Balfour Beatty has introduced a new, improved pre-qualification system across its business in the UK, following the launch of Build UK’s Common Assessment Standard; significantly reducing the time, effort and resources that are costing the sector up to £1 billion per annum.
Alongside a number of major contractors, Balfour Beatty will now require all of its supply chain partners to obtain just one certification to win work with the company, with an industry-agreed question set.
With two levels of certification – desktop and site-based – Balfour Beatty’s valued supply chain partners can prequalify via its preferred registered body ConstructionLine or allow sharing of Common Assessment Standard (CAS) data where prequalified with another Recognised Assessment Body.
Created by Build UK with the support of CECA, the Common Assessment Standard is supported by the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) which is actively seeking its adoption throughout Government construction procurement, including the Construction Playbook.
