Mark will join Balfour Beatty at the end of January 2014 at a time when the ongoing recovery in the market has begun to feed through into increased work for Balfour Beatty’s regional business.
Mark, a chartered civil engineer, is an experienced executive with a wide range of experience across the UK infrastructure market and an extensive project delivery background.
He joins Balfour Beatty from Barhale, the privately owned infrastructure specialists working UK-wide across the water, transport and energy sectors, where he was Chief Executive for the past three and a half years. Mark’s previous positions include Managing Director of Morgan Est Plc and an extensive period with Tarmac Construction in a range of senior positions.
Balfour Beatty’s regional business, which delivers projects ranging in value from £100,000 to £100 million, currently stands at a turnover of approximately £1.8 billion and spans numerous sectors including commercial, retail, coastal defence, local infrastructure, residential, student accommodation, defence and education. Activity is delivered through four regional hubs in Manchester, Edinburgh, London and Bristol and 17 delivery units across the UK and Ireland aligned to local customers.
Nicholas Pollard, Balfour Beatty Construction Services UK Chief Executive Officer said: “I am delighted to welcome Mark to the Balfour Beatty family. Mark’s extensive experience will lead our regional business forward to enable our teams to build on established customer relationships, drive operational efficiency and increase our profitable order book.
“Mark’s arrival is well timed, coinciding with the increased volumes of regional construction and civil engineering activity being procured by a wide range of customers across different sectors.”
Mark Farrah, Regional Managing Director, North and Midlands, Neil Patterson, Regional Managing Director, London and South East, Bill Kingwill, Regional Managing Director South West and Murray Easton, Regional Managing Director Scotland and Ireland, will report directly to Mark.
