As an Business Admin Apprentice you'll join our 2027 Early Careers programme and gain hands-on experience while contributing to some of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects. From day one, you'll be mentored by experienced colleagues, develop technical and professional skills, and gain real-world experience that complements your studies. You'll also be part of a supportive early careers community, building the knowledge, skills and industry-recognised qualifications needed to build a successful career.

In this role, you'll join one of our Balfour Beatty Rail teams based in Tonbridge, supporting our MPV business unit.

What you'll be doing

As an Business Admin Apprentice, you'll play a key role in supporting the efficient day-to-day running of the business. Working as part of a professional team, you'll gain experience across a range of administrative activities, helping to coordinate information, support business processes, and ensure colleagues have the resources and information they need to deliver their work.

The purpose of this role is to provide high-quality administrative support that helps teams maintain the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational performance. Working with colleagues across the business, you'll develop valuable organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills while building a strong understanding of how a major infrastructure business operates.

You will learn how to:

• Help us improve how we work by using data, technology and process improvement to make everyday activities simpler and more efficient.
• Build valuable skills in tools such as Excel, Power BI, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and Power Automate, while completing your apprenticeship qualification
• Collate and analyse operational and engineering data, help build KPI dashboards and performance reports, create webpages and digital tools, and turn information into useful insights for the team
• Help streamline processes, automate repetitive tasks, improve our Microsoft Teams and SharePoint setup, digitise existing processes and find smarter ways of working

• Support planning and operational activities, maintain trackers, analyse machine performance and reliability information, prepare reports and help teams understand trends, issues and opportunities for improvement.

Alongside your role, you'll work towards a Level 3 in Business Administration.

Who we're looking for

• Communicate clearly and effectively.
• Show initiative, adapt to challenges and take pride in achieving results.

• Work on impactful projects that help shape communities, while building your career with one of the UK's leading infrastructure groups.
• Learn from experienced professionals who will support your development through mentoring, coaching and on-the-job learning.
• Take part in unique development opportunities, including residential programmes in the Lake District and personal development experiences delivered by our external partners.
• Build the foundations for a long-term career, with support towards professional membership and chartership or professional registration where relevant to your role.

What we can offer you

• Competitive salary and flexible benefits, giving you the freedom to shape a rewards package that works for you.
• 25 days’ holiday, with the option to buy or sell additional days.
• A permanent contract from day one, reflecting our commitment to your long-term career.
• Clear progression opportunities, with bi-annual performance and pay reviews throughout your programme.
