Reducing waste to landfill on the B1189 footway and cycleway replacement scheme
To support our 2040 ambition to Generate Zero Waste, we’ve designed and developed an application that will help drive down a reduction in waste across our UK business.
Launched in October 2023, ProjectSurplus facilitates the transfer of surplus equipment, furniture or consumables between our depots, offices and projects, using an online marketplace format.
The platform, which was created by our in-house IT team and piloted by our rail business, provides visibility of the excess materials available across the business and enables material movements to be tracked to measure financial savings, the reduction in carbon emissions and social value generated.
