Overview

Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering provides engineering solutions from minor works to major infrastructure projects. The business has a workforce of 3,000 and annual revenue approaching £500 million.

It comprises two organisations - Balfour Beatty Regional Civil Engineering, which focuses on the regional market, and Balfour Beatty Major Civil Engineering, which works with customers with a portfolio of large-scale complex projects.

In major projects, Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering won the £115 million contract in 2006 to construct the new Northern Ticket Hall at King's Cross St Pancras Underground Station in London. It has also recently been awarded the new East London Line project, in partnership with Balfour Beatty's rail division.

In the regional civil engineering business, the company acquired Birse in July 2006, widening its regional coverage throughout the UK.

Key customers include the Highways Agency, Transport for London and Network Rail.
