Press Release

Statement regarding COVID-19

16 November 2020

Group

The health, safety and wellbeing of all those who work with and for us, as well as the general public, is always our priority.

The COVID-19 crisis is continuously evolving, and we will continue to develop our approach and keep our stakeholders updated.  Our Group Crisis Management Team meets regularly to understand the evolving situation and to enable Balfour Beatty to respond swiftly to any changes.

In the UK, we support the UK Government’s position to allow the construction, infrastructure and manufacturing industries to continue operating where they can do so safely. In Northern Ireland, Ireland, Scotland and Wales we are following devolved Government guidelines. All sites, contracts and offices are following Balfour Beatty’s COVID-19 Site Operating Procedures, which are fully aligned to the latest Government guidelines.

In the US, we support the Federal Government’s position to classify construction workers and residential rental industry professionals as essential workers operating in critical infrastructure sectors and continue to adhere to COVID-19 regulations from federal, state and local authorities.

In Hong Kong, our 50:50 joint venture Gammon continues to adhere to the COVID-19 guidance set out by the Government’s Centre for Health Protection.

At Balfour Beatty we construct and maintain critical infrastructure at the backbone of economies and people’s daily lives as well as projects at the heart of local communities. We remain focused on ensuring we can continue to do so, now and when normal conditions return.
