Balfour Beatty appointed to new Midlands Highways Alliance framework

13 June 2014

UK

Balfour Beatty has been appointed by the Midlands Highways Alliance, a collection of twenty local authorities, to the Midlands Highways Alliance Medium Schemes Framework Two (MSF2) which will deliver up to £261 million of transport infrastructure over the next three years.

Under the framework, the company will deliver the construction of new transport infrastructure schemes such as bridges, roads and public transport schemes such as park and rides, bus stops and bus lanes.

Balfour Beatty is one of five contractors on Lot 1 of the framework which is for projects valued at less than £5 million and has a pipeline of work worth £70 million, and is one of three contractors on Lot 2 which is intended for larger projects valued between £5-25 million and has a value of £191 million.

Balfour Beatty, which is on a number of public sector infrastructure frameworks including the Constructing West Midlands and Construction Framework South West, also held a position on the previous framework for the Midlands Highways Alliance MSF1, through which it was awarded 24 out of 60 projects and carried out over £110 million of work. The company received a one year extension to the framework in recognition of its ability to deliver to the requirements of its customers.

Mark Cutler, Managing Director of Balfour Beatty Regional, said: “It is a great privilege to be appointed on to the MSF2 framework for the Midlands Highways Alliance for whom we have successfully delivered a number of projects including White Rose Way for Doncaster Council and the i54 junction works for Staffordshire County Council.

“This latest award is further recognition of Balfour Beatty’s ability to deliver to the latest efficiency and quality requirements under the Communities and Local Government guidelines, and we are very much looking forward to continuing to provide more vital transport infrastructure in the Midlands for our customers and local communities.”

MSF2 has an option of a one year extension with the first of the projects likely to be awarded this summer.
