My Contribution (MyC) Kudos Awards

Thank you to everyone who participated, engaged with and supported our 2022 MyC Kudos Awards.

My Contribution, our employee-led change programme, empowers employees to have a voice by submitting and owning their ideas and driving positive business change. The annual My Contribution Kudos Awards celebrate and showcase the most impactful ideas, and provide an opportunity to get the whole business involved in nominating, championing and choosing the best improvements and contributions.

On Thursday 21 April, the winners were announced at the MyC Kudos Awards Finalists Celebration event hosted by Group Chief Executive, Leo Quinn at the prestigious Royal College of Physicians in London.

Eleven stellar teams made it through to the final, competing for three awards – the People’s Vote, Most Creative Video and the CEO Building New Futures Award. Our People’s Vote delivered two winners, with the winning votes going to… Leadership Quality Tours and Schools Outreach.

Submitted by Luke Morris, Quality and Performance Manager for Living Places in UK Construction Services, Leadership Quality Tours is a new initiative for leaders to engage with site teams about quality, just as they do for health and safety.

Our second People’s Vote winner is Schools Outreach, the idea of Solutions Analyst Apprentice, John Monteith from our IT Team. A member of our Emerging Talent Programme, Johnny wanted to increase visibility of Balfour Beatty as a digital skills employer and identify potential talent in schools and colleges, particularly in deprived areas

Our winner of the Most Creative Video Award is… Hey Girls! Submitted by Procurement Team Group Buyer, Emma Harding, Hey Girls supports women across our projects and offices by ensuring that environmentally friendly period products are freely available, whilst at the same time supporting social enterprise Hey Girls with their mission to end period poverty.

Last but not least, the CEO Building New Futures Kudos Award this year goes to Maximising Site Won Materials, submitted by James Buxton, Senior Materials Engineer on the M4 Smart Motorway project. A terrific idea that diverts site waste away from landfill to be reused for landscaping, it has delivered cost, time and sustainability savings, including a £9million efficiency on the M4 project.

Representing the best of Balfour Beatty, this year’s My Contribution Kudos Awards have delivered another series of showstoppers. With close to 10,000 ideas submitted and 1,900 delivered, My Contribution is a brilliant way to foster ambition, to make connections and give every colleague the opportunity to make a difference.
