The awards that our businesses win recognise their success and celebrate their achievements. Here are some of our recent awards.
Balfour Beatty achieves its highest Carbon Disclosure ranking to date
Over the last four years Balfour Beatty has steadily increased our carbon disclosure score from 78-C to 97-B.
The Carbon Disclosure Programme (CDP) is an organisation that works to transform the way in which the world does business in order to prevent dangerous climate change and to protect natural resources.
Balfour Beatty’s high performance score of 97, up from 94 in 2014, signals that we have continued to improve the way we measure, verify, manage and reduce our carbon footprint both on and off our construction sites, internationally.
Across our operations we are taking concerted actions to reduce our energy use and associated operating costs. Our long term target for 2020 is to achieve a 50% carbon reduction, benchmarked against our 2010 performance.
Oracle Sustainability Innovation Award
Balfour Beatty customised 'Oracle JD Edwards' to accommodate the entry of consumption data as part of the invoice validation programme. The new module led to smoother data collection, allowed for better data assurance, and satisfied third party reviews.

Construction News Specialist Awards
Balfour Beatty’s Helix Canal Scheme in Scotland won the ‘Sustainable Project of the Year' category.
The £13.4 million Helix Canal scheme redeveloped land stretching 350ha between Falkirk and Grangemouth. The complex project reconnects the Forth & Clyde Canal to the Forth River, and involved building 900 metres of new waterway, with two new locks, three bridges, and a platform for The Kelpies – a world class piece of public art. The contract was a partnership with Falkirk Council and Scottish Canals.
California Central Coast Chapter’s Green School Award
The Southwest Division’s net-zero modular classroom project completed on behalf of the Oak Park Unified School District has been honoured.
The $2 million re-locatable classroom project replaces six 25-year-old temporary classrooms at the high school with seven new permanent classroom buildings installed at Oak Park High School. The US Green Building Council (USGBC)'s California’s Central Coast Chapter annual Green Awards celebrates outstanding green projects throughout the region. Balfour Beatty provided pre-construction and lease-leaseback delivery of the project.
