Warrington Borough Council needed to reduce congestion around the 'Birchwood Cluster' and increase the number of businesses moving to the area. To support this, they enlisted Balfour Beatty via the Scape National Civil Engineering and Infrastructure framework. The project involved the upgrade of two existing roundabouts to increase road capacity and ease congestion for 10,000 vehicles that enter Birchwood Park each day. The project has prioritised local employment and investing spend back into the local community. Local small and medium sized enterprises have been employed on the project, comprising 90% of the supply chain and £1.5m of spend has been invested locally.
