What you'll be doing
As a Buyer you will lead and conduct the procurement process for the Substation projects in accordance with the procurement plan, supported by the Procurement Manager as required.
Some key responsibilities will be:
- To create, update and manage Procurement Schedules for the Scotland Substation business on a day-to-day basis.
- To expedite key materials to site.
- Preparation of request for proposals and quotations for equipment and subcontract packages.
- Development and agreement of package procurement plans.
- Carrying out supplier evaluations for designated procurement exercises.
- Undertake the necessary due diligence with supplier checks/pre-qualification process.
- Lead final negotiations with selected suppliers & Contractors.
- Monitor the supply market to identify potential new suppliers and products and meet with suppliers to understand their products.
- Establish performance led supplier relationships focusing on value for money, service & product quality, and continuous improvement to drive competitive advantage
Who we're looking for
You will have the following:
- Demonstrable Subcontract Procurement experience in a large organisation ideally within a utilities related environment
- Strong commercial awareness
- A proven track record in negotiation and process compliance.
- An understanding of legal frameworks, contract law and knowledge of Contract management processes
- Effective communicator who can interact with stakeholders at all levels
- Professional membership (or studying towards/willingness to embark on) RICS, CIPS, or qualifications or similar
