What you'll be doing
This role will be Monday – Friday and hybrid / Travel to the Bristol when required, to learn processes and build the team. Ideally 2-3 days/week in Aztec West, Bristol, UK. This may be adjusted dependent on experience and wider team requirements.
As a Principal Design Engineer, you will interrogate the Sizewell C CAD models on a room-by-room basis, within a set of criteria, to identify and define boundaries for “modules”
(or sub-assemblies) that can be constructed off-site, this reducing the reliance of
on-site pipe welding compared to Hinkley Point C. This approach will reduce the site
installation schedule, improve quality consistency and therefore reduce rework
and improve safety. Module definition will be record on a detailed sheet and reviewed by a
Constructability Team. The final output will be used by Engineering to produce
specific Technical Specifications to fabricate each module.
Accountabilities
- You will be accountable for the timely identification of modules for a series of rooms in accordance with a validated set of criteria and rules.
- Liaise with the Constructability, Engineering and Execution Design functions during this work.
- Pending experience, individuals may be asked to review and/or approve the work
of others, particularly for higher risk proposals.
Who we're looking for
Essential
- HND/Engineering Degree, Mechanical biased (Qualified or equivalent
experience).
- Ability to efficiently navigate and interrogate CAD models (the current design
uses Navisworks).
- Appreciation of on-site constructability factors that would impact the logical
installation of pipework/equipment in a construction environment, particularly
the control of interfaces.
- Appreciation of the safety and practical requirements of welding and
construction working including lifting activities.
- Methodical working with a key attention to detail and presentation.
- 'Can-do' attitude with a desire to contribute to the future of Nuclear New Build
in the UK.
Desired but not essential
- Piping layout experience.
- Pipework installation experience.
- Appreciation of equipment installation (valves, pumps, vessels etc).
- Understanding of construction requirements and constraints and how they can
be mitigated.
- Lifting operations experience.
- Hinkley Point C Site Construction experience.
- Hinkley Point C Detailed and/or Execution Design process experience.
- Awareness of the principles of CDM regulations.
