About the role

Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for an Quality Inspector for our M25 J10 A3 Wisley Scheme.

We provide specialist, reliable, sustainable and creative advice for asset management planning and implementation in the UK. What you'll be doing

As a Quality Inspector, you will assist the Quality Team to ensure that the M25 Junction 10/A3 Wisley Interchange Improvement to ensure that only approved materials are being received and that inspections and tests are carried out


 



  • Review and advise on Inspection and Test Plans/MAR’s (material approval requests) submitted for approval, when required

  • Health and Safety reporting using the ‘near miss’ observation system and acting with positive intervention

  • Mentoring and guiding less experienced site staff

  • Witness testing of materials and performance acceptance tests

  • Inspection of critical items of work and release of hold points

  • Daily reporting, using an iPad, of the progress of the works and any eventual issues identified

  • Positive intervention to prevent the occurrence of rework and NCRs

  • Auditing of paperwork – Inspection and Test Plans, checksheets, site materials etc.

Who we're looking for


  • Experience in the construction of major highways

  • Proven previous experience in a similar quality role (preferable)

  • Good working knowledge of the Highways England document MCHW and the Specification for Highways Works (SHW)

  • Ability to review and interpret the works information – Contract drawings and specification.

  • Offer practical advice to solve problems as they arise on site

  • Good report writing skills

  • CSCS card

  • Driving licence

  • Must be a strong team player, with developed communication skills

  • Self-driven, results oriented with a positive outlook
