About the role

We are looking for a manager to head up our internal insurance claims team. You will be responsible for leading an effective and efficient team, responsible for the recovery of costs for the repair of damage to the M25 motorway network from the responsible parties and also the assessment of claims made against the company.

What you'll be doing


  • Provide ongoing development of the Claims Team to ensure it is continually recognised as a centre of excellence within the industry, whilst leading the team to deliver best in class performance.

  • Lead on all claims, maximising recovery and ensuring losses are recovered for all incidents causing asset damage.

  • Ensure that only valid red claims are settled whilst managing the reputational impact.

  • Management and leadership of the claims team to provide ongoing coaching and support and undertake all line management responsibility.

  • Full budgetary responsibility for claims cost centre and ensuring achievement of financial target in-line with or exceeding business expectations.

  • Ensure compliance with CPS and JV partner policies and procedures.

  • Ensure exceptional customer service is continually provided (internal and external).

  • Ongoing review of systems to ensure the best management for claims currently and for the future.

  • Provide management reports on recovery performance and be able to lead on explaining as and when required.

  • Provide a lead on all legal claims including the attendance of hearings when necessary.

  • Review any other potential opportunities for highways claims to be managed and to manage information requests for claims handling confidentiality.

  • Lead on the strategy for reducing loss from unidentified damage, reducing the impact suffered by Hit & Runs claims.

  • Ensure that continual reviews are undertaken, and improvements identified.

  • Agree/make recommendations for final settlements for each case.

  • Ensure CPS KPIs are achieved

  • Report, on a monthly basis, the performance in month and year to date of each of the case against the budget and rolling forecast.

  • Preparation of monthly CVR reports and reporting to senior management

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget

  • Take part and contribute to the M25 Community events (CTSG and commercial forums).


Working Arrangements


We have offices in Dartford, Leatherhead and South Mimms and are flexible as to which office you are based at. We offer a hybrid working approach with the expectation that a minimum of 60% of your time will be spent working from an office. This role is expected to lead by example.

Who we're looking for


  • Previous experience of successfully running and managing a claims recovery team.

  • Previous relevant experience in working with solicitors, insurers and loss adjusters.

  • Experience of claims management within the highway’s environment and insurance

  • Excellent leadership and motivational skills

  • Highly developed commercial instincts

  • Strong customer focus

  • Target driven and success motivated.

  • Excellent communication, verbal and written skills

  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
