Bringing together knowledge and experience in critical rail infrastructure and track renewals, the alliance deploys innovative working methods to realise efficiencies and create a more reliable railway infrastructure.

What you'll be doing

This role will function to analyse large/complex datasets to identify trends, patterns and correlations that provide valuable actionable insight in business domains.


The successful candidate will: 



  • Develop and implement analytical models and algorithms, optimise process and support decision making through tools and ad hoc data story telling;

  • Develop Web look Intranet/Extranet Portal Collaboration Intranet Site and Branding on SharePoint 365 platform or using Live Tiles solution;

  • Build new landing pages, department templates/pages, newsletter, banner and videos accessible to any device;

  • Establish processes and workflows for data collection, storage, retrieval and sharing;

  • Perform ad hoc analysis to address specific strategic business questions and challenges;

  • Monitor and evaluate KPI and PI structures both for suitability but also monitor performance to identify and highlight areas of improvement;

  • Lead change initiatives, continuous improvement projects and develop products to improve Alliance practices, safety & environment monitoring, and supporting the delivery of Key Result Areas (KRAs);

  • Have an extensive knowledge of change activities with the tools and techniques implemented in past projects;

  • Identify and exploit new innovative processes, techniques, methodologies and equipment for delivery of national programmes maintaining compliance with standards and Network Rail’s safety case and corporate governance;

  • Work with the teams and key stakeholders to establish an effective relationships.

Who we're looking for

The following qualities/experience are essential:


 



  • Undergraduate degree in any of the following Computer Science, Statistics and Mathematics, Environmental Sciences or similar; 

  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience in a SharePoint developer role using SharePoint online/M365 and SharePoint on Premise 2013/2016;

  • Strong knowledge of the .Net framework (C#), IIS, Azure Active Directory and SharePoint site configuration;

  • Experience in data visualization using BI tools creating drillable dynamic dashboards and on data storytelling and persona led information provision;

  • At least 3 years of data analysis experience using Python/R or equivalent;

  • Experience of data mining and cleaning approaches;

  • Experience in developing statistical models (A/B testing, Regression Models) within a data science framework;

  • Experience of SQL for querying relational databases;

  • Able to work in a matrix environment with flexibility to perform a range of analytical activities when coordinating with product and business teams;

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and experience working as part of a scrum team.



The following qualities/experience are desirable:



  • A proven record in delivering continuous improvement and innovation in the rail industry;

  • Knowledge of machine learning approaches and algorithms;

  • Some project experience in text analytics and relevant areas (e.g. text classification, topic detection, document information extraction, sentiment analysis, language modelling etc).
