What you'll be doing
- Ensure the successful commercial performance at Business Unit level and own, develop and execute commercial strategy.
- Identify opportunities for commercial value creation.
- Build and manage effective, strategic relationships (internal and external) to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Provide commercial assurance through forecasting and identification of issues giving rise to commercial risk.
- Manage and develop a proactive, ‘industry leading’ commercial partnering team, allocating the appropriate level of skilled commercial resource to meet business needs.
- Effective resolution of complex disputes.
- Oversee commercial audit and compliance and identifying areas for continuous improvement in processes.
- Lead excellence in quality, drive continuous improvement in process and ensure full compliance with legal and company requirements.
- Act as a role model in the proactive leadership of the behavioural safety programme and Sustainability 2030 Roadmap.
- Drive the continuous development of commercial best practice.
- Manage Audits (internal and external) including any actions arising (to mitigate potential disallowed cost) relating to Defined Cost for project(s) under your control (joint effort with Head of Finance and Commercial).
- Finalise accounts for each year or other agreed timeframe if a rolling audit/final account process has been agreed for your project(s).
- Lead and enable a culture of high performance across a diverse team.
Who we're looking for
- Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC and/or large-scale infrastructure experience is desirable.
- A high level of understanding of Contract Law and Insurances and firm knowledge of differing standard forms of contract.
- Experienced in risk management, company accounts and sub-contracting principles.
- The ability to operate successfully in a commercial environment, possessing the business acumen needed to provide strategic contract and commercial advice to Director level.
- Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
- People management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
- Experience of dispute resolution.
- Membership of a recognised professional institute (e.g. RICS or CICES) preferred.
