About the role

Balfour Beatty currently has opportunities for a Civils Operative to join our Power Transmission & Distribution


Ideal candidates will be based in the Dartford.


To ensure optimum running of sites associated substations and nominated bases in support of the UK Balfour Beatty T&D business and to be responsible for the safe execution of cable related repairs/maintenance and solutions in support of our T&D business (UKPN) but not limited to.



Issue and receipt of Materials, Specialist Plant & Components, Tools, Equipment, Consumables & PPE. Ensure safe system of works are maintained in line with the business needs and deliver regular, comprehensive site diaries, completed site packs. Representation and interface with client and client rules


 


 


 

What you'll be doing


  • To co-ordinate and manage maintenance and repair sites

  • Regularly review daily site activities and record changes

  • Liaise with operational Staff to ensure materials required for site are arranged and
    accessible in line with operational extended hours working

  • Manage sub-contract staff on site

  • Hiring, acceptance and off hiring of plant and equipment.

  • Installation of traffic management

  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of others who may be affected by your actions or omissions whilst at work.

  • Cooperate with BB in all matters pertaining to Health and Safety to enable the Company to carry out and enhance its legal duties and requirements.

  • Responsible for the health, safety and welfare of all persons under your control.

  • Do not recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare.

  • Bring to the attention of your manager any perceived shortcomings in health and safety arrangements or situations that you consider to be serious or imminent danger to yourself or others.

  • Work collaboratively with Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Project
    Engineers, Operational Staff and Support Functions

  • Drive yourself and others to comply with all business policies, procedures and
    governance

  • Support the Project Team with development of a high performance culture of one
    team

  • Talk positively and listen actively across the business and the people within it

Who we're looking for

Knowledge of the Power industry is essential



  • Full clean driving licence ( HGV is an advantage)

  • Valid Fork Lift licence

  • Emergency First Aid At Work

  • IT Skills – MS Outlook, MSP & MS Word, Excel

  • Ability to work in a team

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
