What you'll be doing
Sizewell C (SZC) is vital to the UK’s future energy strategy. As the second of the UK’s next generation of nuclear power stations, SZC is both high profile and highly complex.
Its delivery will rely not only on innovative engineering and construction but also on the most vital Leadership qualities among its senior leadership team. The role is to provide leadership to the project controls across the CWA to ensure the effective delivery of the entire Civils Programme of SZC while recognising and influencing the programme's impacts on the more comprehensive Project.
The Project Controls Engineer’s role is to deliver the strategy for project controls within the agreed constraints, including controls for programme, productivity and time and cost integrated controls in the form of Earned Value Management. This post will ensure that control is in accordance with all safety, quality, time, and cost parameters to meet the project's needs. The Project Controls Engineer reports to the Project Controls Leader who forms part of the PMO.
Principle accountabilities, activities, and decisions
- Accountable for managing project controls aspects for the Civils Work Alliance on the SZC project.
- Supports the CWA's PMO Leadership Team.
- Work collaboratively for exceptional team performance to ensure the teams, roles, skills and behaviour are aligned with the business objectives and project requirements.
- Liaison in a matrix structure with the Sectional teams to implement and manage project controls systems and processes.
Programme controls
- Participate in managing project controls, including integrated programme and productivity management.
- Maintains the Civils Work Programme work breakdown structure (WBS), cost breakdown structure (CBS), organisation breakdown structure (OBS) and all other associated coding structures that facilitate project segmentation, management, and reporting.
- Leads the development of the earned value management (EVM) and reporting system for all project cost and time aspects and provides constructive recommendations to mitigate deficiencies and influence project performance and positive outcomes.
- Implement and maintain the Project Controls Management plan.
- Leads the development of all types of progress and performance reports including for report definitions, templates, metrics, trends, forecast and recommendations.
- Assist with establishing and maintaining systems for reporting and forecasting.
Project management systems and techniques
- Manage the integrated project controls systems and software for the CWA, e.g. Primavera P6, PRISM, Unifier and similar.
- Assist and liaison with other relevant functions within the CWA in identifying, sourcing, implementing, and managing the integrated project controls systems and software on the CWA.
- Liaison with the IT & Digital and IM functions for alignment and integration with other project management systems in the CWA project.
Who we're looking for
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in project controls on complex and mega infrastructure projects and programmes of works working for leading international tier 1 contractors.
- Relevant undergraduate degree.
- Hands on experience running contract, cost and EVM systems e.g., PRISM, Unifier and InEight.
