About the role

Balfour Beatty currently has opportunities for Excavator Drivers to join our Power Transmission & Distribution business based out of the Middlesbrough depot, covering Yorkshire and the North East


Ideal candidates will be based in the Yorkshire or North East area.


In this varied role you will be responsible for working in sub stations and on the Highways installing ducting and pulling cables.


Successful candidates will work in the Yorkshire and North East area, but must be able to work away from home when needed .


The candidates must have experience of excavating in carriageway 


 


 

What you'll be doing

As an Excavator Driver you will have the following responsibilities:



  • To assist in the installation of HV Cable Systems and associated accessories

  • Set personal examples in all Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental standards

  • Report all accidents, dangerous occurrences and near miss incidents

  • Ensure all carriageway and footway excavations are correctly signed guarded and lit

  • Cleanliness / Security of all vehicles, plant and equipment

  • The safe and competent operation of machines to excavate in carriageways

  • Maintenance and upkeep of machines

  • Completion of daily plant sheets

  • Carrying out duties under the instruction of the Banksman

Who we're looking for

working onTo be successful in this role you will have:


Essential



  • Experience in working with manual handling/physical environment

  • General knowledge of health and safety requirements

  • Experience in using hand tools

  • Ability to follow functional instructions in English language both spoken and written; carrying them out reliably and efficiently

  • Experience of driving Excavators up to 8 tonne

  • Experience of deep excavations

  • Ability to work to instructions of Banksman

  • Willingness to work flexibly in other roles as part of the gang

  • Ability to work away from home


Desirable:



  • Full UK Driving Licence

  • Former  experience with working on carriageway works 

  • Operative street works card

  • Ability to operate 180 and 360 tracked and wheeled excavators
