Facts:
Contract awarded by the Highways Agency to widen the 10-mile section of motorway under a design and construct contract. The widening included innovative construction to widen the motorway embankment using precast concrete wall panels on a piled footing leading to efficient construction and reduced likelihood of accidents. Additionally, a new junction and spur was constructed to provide a free flowing link into the new Heathrow Airport Terminal 5. The client for this element of the project was BAA.
