MEPC has awarded the company two contracts on their Chineham Business Park development in Basingstoke. The first is for the three-storey Maplewood office development valued at £10.2 million and scheduled for completion in March 2001. Ashwood, which is also a three-storey office development, is worth £4.9 million and is due to be completed in December 2000. The award of these contracts reinforces Balfour Beatty’s value of repeat business and its strong relationship with key customers of which MEPC is one.
Work has commenced on the £6.1 million contract to construct an access ramp and external works at Spitalfields, London EC2, for Spitalfields Development Corporation. The project, which includes an underground roadway and management suite, is scheduled for completion in February 2001.
Also in London, the Metropolitan Police District has appointed Balfour Beatty to refurbish the Holborn Divisional Police Station, under a contract valued at £8.2 million. This is the first contract for the Metropolitan Police adopting partnering principles.
Work has just started on the structural repairs to the 32-storey Clydesdale and Cleveland twin towers in Birmingham, the tallest residential blocks in the UK. The £6.8 million contract has been awarded by Optima Community Association and is due to be finished in August 2001.
