Balfour Beatty, the international engineering, construction and services group, confirms that its subsidiary, Balfour Beatty Rail Infrastructure Services, and two of that company’s former employees, Tony Walker and Nick Jeffries, have been found not guilty of manslaughter in respect of the Hatfield rail accident of October 2000. This verdict follows the completion of the presentation of the prosecution case and the hearing of defence applications.

Balfour Beatty Rail Infrastructure Services, Walker and Jeffries continue to face charges under the Health and Safety at Work Act.

Balfour Beatty continues to offer its condolences to the bereaved families and those injured at Hatfield.
