Balfour Beatty is a leading road constructor, asset manager and maintenance provider in the UK, US and Dubai. Projects include traditional work through to the more complex design-build-finance-operate (DBFO) and early contractor involvement (ECI) schemes.

Balfour Beatty Capital is an equity investor in highways and street lighting facilities through its concession company Connect Roads, under the UK's Private Finance Initiative (PFI). It is also involved in a number of street lighting schemes, working with Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions. Clients include the Highways Agency and local authorities such as Sunderland and Derby City Councils.

In the UK, Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering is a significant player, with experience ranging from smaller, new local highways to major works on existing strategic routes. Projects include the M25 widening scheme and the M6 toll road. Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering creates foundations for bridges, retaining wall structures and sign gantry supports.

Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Services is one of the UK's leading road management and maintenance providers, with extensive experience of county road, trunk road and motorway networks for local authorities and the Highways Agency. It has responsibility for Highways Agency Areas 2, 3 and 4, stretching from the West Country to the Kent coast, and for a number of local authorities including North Yorkshire and North-West Scotland.

In the US, Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Inc is a major road builder in California, Texas, Florida and the Carolinas. It is joint venture partner on State Highway 130 (SH 130), the single largest highway project in Texas and one of the largest design-build projects in the United States.

Our joint venture businesses in South-East Asia and the Middle East have substantial experience creating and making improvements to major road infrastructure. In Hong Kong, Gammon has completed the HK$2.2 billion Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Corridor, a 3.5km long, dual three-lane carriageway with 0.3km on land and 3.2km over water.

In 2006, Dutco Balfour Beatty was awarded two major new road contracts by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, to a total value of over £100 million. These include comprehensive improvements to the Sheikh Zayed Road, through the construction of the Jumeirah Lake Towers Interchange.
