Balfour Beatty is a leading infrastructure provider, providing design, project management, construction and engineering services to customers in the UK, US, Hong Kong and Dubai. Further to our rail and road projects, we have been involved in a number of other essential infrastructure schemes.
In the UK, Balfour Beatty Capital worked in partnership with Kelda Group and Tyco Tech as Aberdeen Environmental Services (AES) to design, build, finance, operate and maintain a £110 million waste water treatment project in Scotland. AES has a 30-year concession which serves nearly 280,000 customers in Aberdeen, Peterhead and Fraserburgh.
In Hong Kong, Gammon provided site restoration services to Swire SITA for its 30-year concession to manage, on behalf of the Government, a number of old landfills in the New Territories of Hong Kong. Gammon removed old landfill covers and installed gas/leachate collection systems.
In the US, Heery International's east region has a 30-year relationship managing capital projects for the City of Baltimore Department of Public Works. These are primarily water and wastewater works.
A joint venture between Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Inc and M L Shank Inc upgraded the sewerage system for the Narragansett Bay Commission (NBC) in Rhode Island, to increase its capacity and reduce overflow volume. M L Shank Inc is Balfour Beatty's established US tunnelling partner.
