Haden Young was awarded the contract to install and commission the mechanical and electrical (M&E) services at The Sage Gateshead, Tyneside’s international home for music
The Sage Gateshead contract had stringent acoustic criteria and incorporated a wide variety of state-of the-art building services, including specialist equipment associated with voice and data
The landmark building consists of two concert halls, a rehearsal and community performance hall, a 25-room Music Education Centre, a music information resource centre and an entertainment room, plus studios, bars and eating facilities
Hall One seats around 1,700 people and was designed to provide optimum performance characteristics for a symphony orchestra
Hall Two has 450 seats for smaller performances
The Sage Gateshead opened in December 2004
