Balfour Beatty invests in, designs, builds and maintains hospital and healthcare projects in the UK and US. These range from small, specialist facilities to large, complex, multi-disciplinary hospitals for the NHS and other healthcare authorities.
We secure work through new procurement models, such as the Government's public private partnerships (PPP), LIFT and ProCure21 schemes, as well as traditional contracting methods.
In the US, Heery has successfully completed over 100 projects, totalling more than $2 billion in healthcare facility projects since 1974. At the end of 2004, Heery acquired HLM Design, which focuses extensively on healthcare facility design. Balfour Beatty Construction US has completed more than 250 new and renovated healthcare facilities, valued at over $5 billion.
Balfour Beatty Capital's concession Consort Healthcare remains a market leader in UK PPP hospitals. Its portfolio contains interests in eight major hospital schemes, including Birmingham New Hospitals and Pinderfields and Pontefract Hospitals. Balfour Beatty WorkPlace has a large facilities management portfolio in support of our PPP healthcare projects.
